Question

How can I upgrade from Titan legacy to Titan Nextgen?

Reasoning

I would like to upgrade to the latest Titan build to avoid running outdated and unsupported software.

Answer

You have the option to upgrade to Titan Nextgen at no additional cost if you have active M&S.

Pre-Requisites

  1. You will need to have the latest build of Titan FTP Server 2019 installed to ensure the upgrade process is successful. Run the Titan 2019 Admin console and use the Check For Program Updates feature to download and install the latest build of Titan FTP Server 2019.
  2. Ensure your Operating System (OS) meets the minimum system requirements for running Titan Nextgen.
  3. Run Windows Updates on the Operating System to ensure all Windows hot fixes and patches have been applied.
  4. If you are currently running a 1.x build of Titan Nextgen, or if you have not yet installed Titan Nextgen on the computer, click here to download and install the latest build of Titan Nextgen
  5. Ensure 2GBs of disk space is available for installation.
  6. Have ready the new Regcode to activate Titan Nextgen(You can request this from our sales team at mftsales@southrivertechnologies.com)

Steps

  1. Make sure your Windows server meets the requirements and OS is 2016 or above.
  1. If you are running an older build than Titan 3676, then you first must upgrade to Titan 3676
  2. If you are running Titan 3676 on Windows 2012, then you first need to migrate your Titan 3676 to a new windows server with 2016 or above.
  1. Once you are running Titan 3676 on a supported windows OS, then you can install Titan Nextgen. It will run in parallel with Titan legacy.
  2. Import the legacy configuration into Titan Nextgen.
  3. Keep in mind that Titan legacy and Titan Nextgen are going to be both running at the same time until you stop one or the other. This can cause port conflicts if you are listening on the same IP/port.
  4. You can reference legacy to make sure Titan Nextgen has all the configuration successfully imported. Once you confirm Titan Nextgen is running correctly, you can safely remove Titan legacy.
