Question

How can I install Titan NextGen on a Windows Server?

Reasoning

We have a requirement to install a Managed File Transfer (MFT) server on a Windows platform

Answer

You can install Titan NextGen easily in your Windows environment in just a few steps.

Pre-requisites

  1. Titan NextGen R2 (or the latest current release)

  2. 2 GHz Pentium class processor or better is required, multi-core is recommended

  3. 8GB RAM is required, 16GB or more is recommended for production systems

  4. SVGA (1024x768) resolution display or better is required to run the Administration Console program

Steps

  1. Login to your Windows Server

  2. Make sure that your Windows Server Operating System and environment is up to date

  3. Download the correct Titan NextGen installer:

  1. Titan SFTP Server Download for Windows

  2. Titan MFT Server Download for Windows

  3. Titan DMZ Server Download for Windows

  1. Run the installer

  2. Follow the installation wizard prompts and instructions

  3. Once the installation is complete, please make sure that the following ports are allowed on the server:

  1. SFTP (default port 22)

  2. Remote Administration Server (default port 41443): To allow an administrator secure access to Titan NextGen’s Admin UI externally

  3. Local Administration Server (default port 31443): To allow an administrator secure access to Titan NextGen’s Admin UI within the LAN

  4. HTTPS (default port 443): To allow for secure file transfer using the HTTPS protocol

NOTE: If your VM is hosted in the Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.), you will need to additionally open the same ports on your Cloud Firewall.

  1. Click on The Titan Server Icon to load the Administrator interface in a browser and create your Master Admin account (be sure to keep these credentials, as they are the Admin login credentials to access the Titan Server):

  1. Titan MFT or SFTP Admin UI: https://IPAddressOrMachineName:31443

  2. Titan DMZ Admin UI: https://IPAddressOrMachineName:32443

NOTE: If wanting to set up Remote Administrator access, please see this guide: Setup Remote Admin in Titan

  1. Once successfully logged in, you are ready to begin using your Titan Server.

NOTE: If you purchased a license outright (NOT doing a Subscription/Pay-As-You-Go model in the Cloud), see this guide for Activating your License for use: How to Administer Titan Server Licenses

  1. To ensure your Titan Server is up to date, go to the main page of the Titan Server Administrator, select the top-level Home option, and then select the Product Info tab at the top right. Here you can Check for Update by clicking on the circular arrow icon in the Product area. You can view the latest Release Notes and download any existing update for install.
