Question

How can I migrate my existing Titan installation from an on-premises server to Microsoft Azure while retaining users and configuration?


Answer

    Titan can be migrated from an on-premises environment to Azure by installing the same Titan version on an Azure VM and restoring the configuration and data from the on-prem server. This ensures users, settings, and workflows are preserved.


Pre-requisites

An Azure Virtual Machine (Windows Server) must be provisioned

Administrative access to both the on-prem server and Azure VM

Backup of:

  • Titan configuration files
  • Titan Directories

Steps

  1. Backing up On-prem Configuration
  1. On-prem, Login to Titan Admin Web UI
  2. Navigate to Domain
  3. Select Server and click  action
  4. Select Export
  5. Back up the configuration file (.nxcfg)


  1. Putting Back up on Azure (Using Remote Desktop)
  1. Enable drive redirection in RDP before connecting:
  2. Open Remote Desktop Connection → Show Options → Local Resources → More → check the drives you want to share.
  3. Connect to your Azure VM.
  4. On the VM, open File Explorer → you’ll see your local drives under This PC.
  5. Copy/paste Titan configuration files and directory from your local drive to the VM.

  1. Importing configuration to Azure
  1. Open your Azure VM
  2. Login to your Titan Admin Web UI
  3. Navigate to Domain
  4. Click Import
  5. Select your configuration file (.nxcfg) from on-prem (Steps A-5)
  6. Follow procedures
