2019: What is the Check for Updates URL?

The Check for Updates URL is used internally by the software to look for, and download, product updates for the installed software. When you run the Check for Updates feature in the product, the remote updates server for your product is contacted to see if there are any available updates based on the build number of the product installed on your computer. If there are updates available, the information is returned to the product and displayed on the screen. The Check for Updates utility will allow the user to optionally download and install the updates. The URL differs slightly depending on which product is installed, however the process is the same. The Check for Updates process will first make an attempt using HTTP/S on port 443. If the request fails for any reason, a follow-up request will be posted over HTTP on port 80.

We supply this information here because some LAN administrators have out-bound HTTP/HTTPS access blocked on the corporate firewall and this information will allow the LAN administrators to create an exception rule to permit SRT software to download hotfixes and patches necessary for the product.
