Question
How can I upgrade from legacy Titan 2019 to NextGen Titan FTP version?
Reasoning
With the release of Titan FTP NextGen version, we would like to take advantage of the new features, added security and keep our software up to date.
Answer
You can upgrade your Titan FTP 2019 to our new NextGen version while keeping all of your configurations. This new version houses the configuration in a SQL Server database so if you don’t have a SQL Server available, the installer will install SQL Server Express for you.
Pre-Requisites
- Have Titan FTP 3675 installed.
- Ensure OS meets system requirements for Titan FTP server NextGen.
- Ensure 2GBs of disk space is available for installation and backup of legacy configuration.
Steps
- Run the NextGen installer and select the language

- The installer wizard will begin, click on Next.

- Accept the agreement and click on Next.

- Click on Next to begin installation of Titan FTP Server NextGen

- Setup Completes. Click Finish.

- Open the Titan FTP NextGen shortcut and a web browser will pop up with the below window.

- Input admin account credentials to login.

Import Legacy Configuration into NextGen
- Open a command prompt as administrator.
- In command prompt, navigate to “C:\Program Files\South River Technologies\SrxServer”.
NOTE: You must be in the above path before proceeding, otherwise, the import won’t work.

- Run the following command which will examine the legacy configuration to make sure there are no issues before importing it into Nextgen. (UPDATE: In latest version please use NXCLI.exe instead of NXCFG.exe)

- If the upgrade check tool results in “Success”, you can run the following command to import all legacy server configuration.

- Reboot windows server.
- Login to Titan FTP web admin and you will see the legacy servers.
