Question
How do I install Cornerstone MFT and configure it with DMZEdge?
Reasoning
I am trying to install Cornerstone MFT and want to add an additional layer of security by adding a DMZEdge server in front of my Cornerstone server, however, I am not sure how to configure both software to make sure they are both communicating with each other correctly and connections can be made securely.
Answer
We need to make sure we configure DMZEdge correctly and add a profile of said DMZEdge server within Cornerstone so they can communicate with each other, and traffic can be forwarded correctly.
Pre-requisites
- Have Cornerstone MFT windows server ready.
- Have a windows server in front of the Cornerstone Server for DMZEdge
- Make sure network layer is configured correctly to allow both servers to communicate and the designated port.
Steps
- Run the install file as an admin.
- Follow installation wizard and select if you are using your own SQL Server or if you want to install SQL Express locally for testing purposes.
- Select standard.
- Follow prompts and click install.
- Open Cornerstone admin console.
- Activate Regcode if prompted.
- Start local domain setup wizard.
- Configure the local domain.
- Setup admin account.
- Finish the domain wizard.
- Create a new server in Cornerstone and select if it will be a standalone or a cluster.
- Configure Server.
- Configure the SQL Server connection parameters, type a database name and click test connection to ensure it is working.
- Follow other prompts and click on finish.
- Install DMZEdge and confirm it is running.
- You can configure DMZ on the settings tab.
- Add DMZEdge profile in Cornerstone. (In the below example I gave it a name of localDMZ).
- Click apply.
